Cozy QoL

A client-side quality-of-life mod for Minecraft that works on any server, with Sodium, Iris shaders and Origins.

It started as a mod to just turn off night vision to fix an annoying bug in a server with some friends. It kind just grew from there. Everything is client-side, so it works on any server. Press Right Shift in game for a quick menu of toggles, every setting and a HUD layout editor.

What it does

  • Vision: turn off or soften night vision, fullbright, and hide the nausea wobble, blindness fog, fire overlay and pumpkin overlay.
  • HUD: coordinates (with the Nether equivalent), direction, biome, FPS, ping, clock, armor and tool durability, item pickups and effect timers. Every panel can be moved in the layout editor.
  • Origins: power cooldowns, warnings for rain, water, sunlight and air, and food or armor your origin can’t use marked in tooltips.
  • Inventory: shulker box and map previews, sorting, slot locking, container search, hotbar refill and a tool break guard.
  • Camera and controls: zoom, freelook, third-person distance and shoulder offset, and a custom crosshair.
  • Building and navigation: placement preview, ruler, line lock, chunk borders, waypoints with beams, a compass bar and linked Nether portal coordinates.
  • Combat: mob health bars, damage numbers, an attack cooldown ring and creeper and totem warnings.

Settings that give an advantage in PvP are clearly marked, so you can check your server’s rules first.

How it’s built

Java on Fabric, using Mixin to change how the game draws and behaves, and Cloth Config for the settings screens. A test client checks that every change still applies cleanly. It builds a test world and takes screenshots, with Sodium, Iris and Origins installed alongside.

How this page is styled (Blocks theme)
  • Panels use the classic inventory look built from box-shadow alone: a black outline, a white inset on the top-left edge and a dark one on the bottom-right.
  • Buttons and tags copy the game's buttons and item slots. Headings use Pixelify Sans.
  • The header picture is drawn pixel by pixel in a short Python script around the mod's moon icon, and shown with image-rendering: pixelated so it stays sharp at any size. The stars behind the page are squares in a tiling SVG.
  • Hover the header picture to mine it: crack pixels (an inline SVG on a 16×16 grid) are uncovered in four steps() by a growing clip-path.
